Established in 1959, AIT has earned reputation as a premier international institution providing quality higher education in Engineering, Science and Technology. So far more than 14,000students from 74 countries have passed out of the Institute with Ph.D., Masters and Diploma in different subjects. From Bangladesh alone, more than 800 students have so far graduated from the Institute with various programs of study. It is indeed a matter of pride that these graduates have been in key positions in the public and private sectors both home and abroad and making great contribution to socio-economic development in their respective spheres of activities.

Bangladesh Chapter of AIT Alumni Association was organized in 1973. Its present membership is around 200. It is quite an active chapter which strives to promote and maintain a close liaison and fellow feeling among the members of the chapter. The chapter contributes substantially to the professional development of the members. Through annual general meeting, executive committee meetings, seminars and occasional cultural programs, the forum helps create a feeling of togetherness, friendship, mutual co-operation and collaboration in professional endeavors. Our chapter maintains contact with AIT mother chapter and other national chapters as well. AIT Alumni Directory 2000 and 2002 of the Bangladesh Chapter represented our attempts at developing a data-base of the alumni designed to facilitate communication among them. Publication of the directory was widely appreciated by the alumni and many organizations for its practical utility. We are enveisaging to publish an updated directory in the year 2006.

AITAA-Bangladesh Chapter representatives always participate in the AITAA-Governing Board Meetings. Since 1999 it has participated AITAA-GBMs in Thailand, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Taiwan, Pakistan and Indonesia. Through these participations, interaction between Alumni of different countries have tremendously increased which in turn helps growth of our Alma Mater Asian Institute of Technology.
